The controversial resolution for clemency to the Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru, shall come up for discussion in the state assembly on September 29.

The resolution tabled by the independent MLA Engineer Abdul Rashid shall be tabled on September 28 in the state assembly which meets for its brief summer session later this month.

The resolution was picked up for admission through a draw of lots on Saturday were in all 35 resolutions have been allowed of a total of 39 received by the assembly secretariat.

The issue has already generated lot of controversy when state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "If Jammu and Kashmir assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru would the reaction have been as muted? I think not."

The Bharatiya Janata Party had reacted sharply to Omar's tweet.

As far as the resolution is concerned, it has only garnered the support of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, while the ruling coalition partners, National Conference and Congress are still undecided.
