Annoyed over the process of selecting Yadunath Pandey for the Bharatiya Janata Party's top post in Jharkhand, party national vice-president Babulal Marandi held a meeting with party leaders in Ranchi on Tuesday.

At least 17 BJP members of legislative assembly and one member of Parliament -- Ajay Maru -- were present in the meeting at BJP MLA Ravindra Rai's house.

Janata Dal-United MLA Kameshwar Das was also present, sources close to Marandi said.

Jharkhand human resources minister Pradeep Yadav and MLA Sarya Rai, who is considered to be a close to Chief Minister Arjun Munda, was also present in the meeting.

The BJP has 31 MLAs, including a nominated member, in the state assembly.

A former Jharkhand chief minister, Marandi said he would remain in the party and correct a few problems.

He also assured that there was no threat to the two-month old Munda government due to his disagreement over the appointment of Pandey as the party's state president.

Latest reports said Marandi was ready to meet the party's top brass to discuss the issue.

"I have placed before party workers whatever I have been saying and they decided to take the issue to the central leadership. If the national leadership thinks it necessary to call me I will go," Marandi said.
