JD-U to go alone in UP polls: Sharad Yadav

January 09, 2012 19:02 IST

The Janata Dal-United has decided to contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections by itself, Sharad Yadav said at Bengaluru on Monday.

"From the beginning we were unable to have proper talks with the BJP on seat sharing. Later the Kushwaha issue came up and it became very difficult for us to enter into a tie up with the BJP. Hence we decided that it was best we contested the election on our own," he said while speaking to mediapersons.

When asked if he was in Karnataka to poach some members from other parties to re-launch the JD-U in the state, he said that it was incorrect. He also denied any move to rope in former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa into his party.
