A Chhattisgarh Armed Force jawan was killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on Saturday. Constable Shivkumar Sidar was unwell for the last few days and was going for treatment to Dornpal from Temelwada in a bus where he was abducted by a group of Maoists and was killed, Inspector General, Bastar Range SRP Kalluri, said.

Sidar was travelling alone in a passenger bus, unarmed in civilian clothes when a group of armed Maoists stopped the bus between Temelwada and Kusawada and asked him to alight from the vehicle, Kalluri said.

The ultras then killed him and abandoned his body on the road, the IG said. Soon after being informed, security forces rushed to the spot, he said, adding that a combing operation has been launched in the region to nab the assailants.

A native of Raigarh district, Sidar belonged to the D company of CAF's 9th battalion.
