July 28, 2010 17:54 IST

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called on state Governor N N Vohra and discussed the present situation in the Valley with him.

During the 30-minute meeting at Raj Bhavan, the chief minister discussed various issues, including the prevailing situation, and his recent visits to various parts of the state, an official spokesman said.

He said the chief minister also briefed the Governor about the efforts being made to speed up the implementation of various development and welfare schemes which have a day-to-day bearing on the lives of people.

The chief minister had kickstarted on July 26 a programme to meet the civil society in order to defuse the tension prevailing in the Valley in the past two months.
