under the Off-Campus Distance Learning and Collaborative Programmes, invites applications for the DG Shipping approved

Four-year residential Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering/Nautical Technology course.

Eligibility: Unmarried candidates born on or after September 1, 1984. Female students receive a two-year age relaxation.

Candidates must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) or its equivalent with at least 60 per cent aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and maths.

Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards laid down by DG Shipping.

Campus: The course will be conducted at the modern, well-equipped campus located on Talegaon-Chakan Road, Induri.

It is compulsory for all students to stay in the campus, except during one of the last two semesters, when students must undertake industry internship.

Cost: The total cost per student is approx Rs 1.7 lakh per year. Female students receive a Rs 10,000 reduction in fee each semester.

Scholarships: Approximately 15 per cent of the students receive scholarships based on merit.

Selection procedure: Candidates are short-listed based on their academic record and extra-curricular achievements.

The short-listed candidates are called for an online test, interview and medical examination, which will be conducted at the institute's campus.

Selections are based on the candidates' assessed potential to perform as seafarers.

The decision of the institute will be final and binding on the candidates.

The successful completion of this programme does not guarantee on-board training, which is mandatory for securing employment at sea.

Application procedure: Application forms along with the brochure/prospectus can be obtained by sending a crossed demand draft of Rs 300 in favour of the Tolani Maritime Institute payable at Pune or Induri. Overseas requests must be accompanied by a banker's cheque for $20 or its equivalent.

Alternatively, application forms may be freely downloaded from the institute's Web site, www.tolani.edu

All duly filled in application forms, along with a crossed demand draft for Rs 600 ($25 banker's cheque in the case of foreign or non-resident applicants), drawn in favour of the Tolani Maritime Institute, payable at Pune or Induri, must be reach the following address by 1700 hours on June 30, 2004.
