VISITING STUDENTS RESEARCH PROGRAMME

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research offers summer programs exposing academically bright students to research in many areas of theoretical and experimental physics, astronomy, chemistry and biology. The program is held in the School of Natural Sciences and the School of Technology and Computer Sciences, Mumbai, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (Pune/Ooty). Please refer to the TIFR web site/application form for detailed description of research areas.

The Visiting Students Research Programme 2004 provides students an opportunity to work on a research project for eight weeks (May 24 to July 18). Participants are paid 1.33 x 2nd class return railway fare, a stipend (Rs 3,500/month) and provided free hostel accommodation. Outstanding participants (Physics and Computer Science only!) may be pre-selected to join the Graduate School in 2005, subject to satisfactory final degree examination performance.

Eligibility: Pre-final year students with good academic record who expect MSc/BTech/BE degrees in 2005.

School of Natural Sciences: MSc students in Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, Mathematics, Astronomy or Applied Maths; BE/BTech students with interest in Physics; pre-final year medicine/engineering students.

School of Technology and Computer Sciences: BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering.
