The Paul Foundation Scholarships 2004

The Paul Foundation invites applications from outstanding graduates and postgraduates of Indian Universities for scholarships to study in India and overseas at top ranked Universities, Institutes, centres in their chosen areas of specialization.

The scholarships will be awarded to students aspiring to excel and to lead. The purpose is to make a difference by encouraging and stimulating outstanding scholars, who have demonstrated ability and intellectual excellence, to produce thoughtful and thought-provoking work and who can, in turn, contribute to making a difference to society.

The scholarships are open for academic courses through taught programmes that contribute positively to building a learning and knowledge society. The choice of subjects is diverse, but not all-inclusive.

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a first class degree at the undergraduate or/and postgraduate levels and must have submitted their applications to the universities of their choice at the time of applying to The Paul Foundation. Candidates in their final year with exceptional results may also apply. Candidates must be below 30 years of age on November 1, 2003 and resident in India.

Scholarships will be awarded in full or in part to cover academic, living and travel expenses for a maximum of two years.

Application forms can be obtained by post by sending a stamped self-addressed envelope of Rs 10 to The Paul Foundation, Apeejay House, 15 Park Street, Kolkata 700016.

Last date to obtain application forms: February 15, 2004.

Last date for receipt for completed application forms: February 28, 2004.

PG Programmes through Distance Education

The Centre for Distance Education, University of Hyderabad invites applications for admission to the following one-year Postgraduate Diploma Programmes offered through Distance Education Mode from January 2004:

1.

Computer Science.

2. Planning and Project Management.

3. Environmental Education and Management.

4. Human Rights.

5. Translation Studies in Hindi.

6. Television Production.

7. Library Automation and Networking.

8. Telecommunications.

9. Chemical Analysis and Quality Management.

10. Business Ethics.

11. Cyber Laws and Intellectual Property Rights.

12. Environmental Economics.

13. Communicative English.

14. Mass Communication and Translation Techniques in Urdu.

Eligibility:

PGDLAN: Bachelor's degree in Library Science.

PGDTC: Bachelor's degree with mathematics and physics or electronics.

PGDCAQ: Bachelor's degree with chemistry.

For all other programmes: Graduates from a recognised Indian University.

Prospectus and application form can be obtained by sending a request to the Section Officer (DE), University of Hyderabad, Central University PO, Hyderabad 500046.

The request must be accompanied by a demand draft for Rs 200 drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad, on State Bank of India, HU Campus branch (Code No 5916) Hyderabad 500046 or on Andhra Bank, Nampally branch (Code No378) Hyderabad or any Scheduled Bank payable at Hyderabad.

Last date for receipt of completed application form: December 31, 2003.
