Jundal's name figured during the 2006 train bombings, which killed over a 100 people.

When his name first emerged, it was said that his mother was a resident of Beed, Maharashtra, but Jundal spent most of his time in Pakistan.

Aged 30, Jundal was instrumental in setting up modules for the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, particularly in Maharashtra.

Intelligence Bureau officials also said that he was one of the point men for the Lashkar in Maharashtra and that the biggest role that Jundal played for them was during the train bombings in the year 2006.

All through Jundal was given charge of this state as he was familiar with the terrain. His name did briefly crop up during the 26/11 attack and it was believed that he could have provided some logistic support for the attack. However, this was never ascertained and the IB had that point in time said that Pakistan had tried to avoid every possible Indian link so that the attack did not come out in the open before its execution.

Meanwhile, it is now for the investigating agencies to ascertain and make clear who exactly they have in custody; whether the two men are the same or are they two completely different people.

In case they ascertain that both the men are the same then it becomes clear that Sabahuddin Ahmed, who was arrested in connection with botched attack on IISC in Bengaluru, was lying in his confession about the nationality of this person.

Also, in the dock will be Mumbai Police, which has claimed that there were no other Indians involved in the 26/11 attack.
