Is Anna Shastri's brother? Ask villagers!

August 21, 2011 19:23 IST

Support for Anna is growing day by day in Kota, Rajasthan with scores of people conducting candlelight marches and organising rallies with some even seeing a reflection of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in his personality.

Anna's anti-corruption campaign, progressing into sixth day on Sunday, has become an issue of debate among the rustic villagers with some querying if Hazare was Shastri's younger brother or some kin of Mahatma Gandhi.

The very reflection of Shastri in personality, the third Prime Minister of the nation, has forced them comparing him with Anna.

Kishanlal Jhangid, a farmer from Kathoon village, says support for Anna has grown rapidly and villagers are identifying Shastri and Gandhi in the anti-corruption crusader.

Badrilal Gurjar of Hattipura village of Bundi district asked if Anna was L B Shastri's younger brother.

65-year-old Rampiyari Sharma of Teacher's Colony here, who claimed to have witnessed Shastri ji in person, said 'Anna very much resembles with Shastri'.

"When I saw him on TV running to escape from showers in Rajghat, I was reminded of the day when I witnessed Shastri ji walking very fast during his visit to Kota," she said.

Meanwhile, some advocates performed 'Sadbuddhi Yagya' (rites to bless with wisdom) at court premises on Monday in favour of Anna's Jan Lokpal Bill.

The traders, dealing with gold and silver, took out a candle light procession here last evening in Sarafa bazaar.
