Irregularities found in board exam of J&K minister's son

The state police crime branch is reported to have established conduct of malpractices by officials of board of school education (BOSE) and education department to help the state education ministers' son pass his board exam in 2009.

The crime branch which was entrusted with the enquiry on the matter by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reportedly established involvement of BOSE officials in helping the minister's son pass tenth standard exam.

The scandal had been exposed by a local daily that published the facsimile of the Urdu paper, which had been written in two different handwritings.

Following the exposure, the Omar Abdullah handed over the case to the crime branch to probe the allegations.

For the past one week crime branch sleuths have been questioning the BOSE officials and also the management of the private school where the minister's son appeared for the exam.

Sources said the crime branch has zeroed in on the state education department officer, who is alleged to have written the Urdu paper of Imam Sauban.

A retired joint secretary of the BOSE and another officer who was in-charge of the secrecy section in 2009 were also summoned to the crime branch headquarters and subjected to questioning.

Education minister, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, attended Wednesday's state cabinet meeting in Jammu even though there were rumours that he had submitted his resignation.
