The Border Security Force has recovered a huge cache of explosives dating back to the 1965 India-Pakistan war buried safely under the ground from Barmer district of Rajasthan.

BSF officials successfully conducted Operation Alert in Barmer during which bombs dating back to 1965 were discovered during an excavation.

A senior official spoke to mediapersons on Wednesday about the recovery.

"We undertook an excavation and found 60-65 bombs, they are highly explosive and have a direct impact radius of 700 metre," said Vinay Kumar, a security official.

Soon after successful completion of the recovery the officials were seen examining the explosives.

Later on security officials were seen disposing the explosives by burying them off several feet below the earth in a safer location away from the reach of miscreants who might misuse them.

The entire procedure was carefully supervised and monitored by senior officials of the local police who were alerted soon after the initial recovery of the explosives.
