June 09, 2012 23:38 IST
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Satish C Mehta hosted a reception for Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, according to a report in the Kuwait Times.

The reception was attended by a host of prominent Indians settled in Kuwait including businessmen, doctors, media personnel etc.

Gandhi has already held a number of meetings with senior politicians and academics in Kuwait.

The guests shared their concern about the various problems they faced in Kuwait, including the lack of land for a community school and for holding the last rites of deceased Indians.

The Indian community also pointed out to Gandhi that the Kuwait government did not recognise a number of medical degrees in India, making it difficult for Indian doctors to practice there.

Gandhi assured the guests that he would look into these issues and told them that he was proud of the achievements of the Indian community in Kuwait.
