India and Pakistan on Monday agreed to exercise restraint and take steps to defuse tension on the Line of Control.
The two countries held a flag meeting at Brigade Commander level at Chakan De Bagh crossing to address the issue of ceasefire violations on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceasefire violations which escalated this month claimed several lives and caused damage to property.
A defence spokesman in a statement said, "A brigade commander-level flag meeting was held at Chakan-da-Bagh between the Indian Pakistan army Officers."
"The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and issues of regarding ongoing ceasefire violations, targeting of civilians and sniping action on Line of Control."
"Both sides have mutually agreed to exercise restrain and take steps to defuse the situation," the statement said.
"The flag meeting was chaired by a senior brigadier of the Indian Army and lasted for about an hour," the statement added.
