An Indian American technology entrepreneur has been appointed executive-in-residence of the Master of Engineering Management programme of a top university in the United States.

Vivek Wadhwa, the co-founder and ex-chief executive officer of Relativity Technologies Inc., Raleigh, will under the new post, serve as a mentor to students in the programme conducted by Duke University in North Carolina and assist faculty interested in commercialising technology developed in the campus.

Born and brought up in New Delhi, Wadhwa moved to the United States in 1980 and now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. He holds a BA degree in Computer Science from Canberra University in Australia and a Master's degree in Business Administration from New York University.

Wadhwa, who has spent more than 25 years in the software industry, also served as vice president of Information Services at CS First Boston Corporation, where he and his team designed and developed Seer*HPS, a revolutionary technology for building large-scale, client/server systems.

Recently Wadhwa had been involved in co-producing the movie, My Bollywood Bride. He also writes for BusinessWeek Online.

"I am really excited about the opportunity to give back to the community by helping teach and mentor the next generation of industry leaders," Wadhwa said.

"Duke University's MEM program is very unique in the way it provides real-world management training for technologists.

I look forward to contributing to these initiatives," he said.
