Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said at a function in Bengaluru that he will be leaving for Raj Bhavan to tender his resignation.
"I wanted the month of ashada to be over before I could take any decision. I will go to Raj Bhavan a happy man. I will tour the state from Monday and meet people, as today my hands and legs are not tied anymore," said Yeddyurappa while speaking at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru at a function on Sunday where he was facilitated.
"I wanted to come here and be with you in this programme as chief minister. From here I will leave for Raj Bhavan and tender my resignation," said Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa said that he never dreamt that he would become a chief minister. "I was an ordinary man at Shikaripur in Shimoga. I have come up the hard way and have worked hard for it," he said.
Yeddyurappa, while speaking about the mining issue, said that he cared about the wealth of the state and hence banned export. "What wrong did I do? I did not want the state to lose ore. The Supreme Court has appreciated my actions," he said.
"I was never power hungry. For me love and confidence of the people is more important. I may not be the CM from tomorrow and we will have a new CM in a couple of days. My successor will ensure that my schemes and plans are implemented. I will ensure that good programmes are implemented. I will meet thousands of farmers. I will work so hard that the Bharatiya Janata Party will return to power with 150 seats and that is what I will strive for," said Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa said that there was no need for the media to ask him any questions. "I have said everything. We have decided on the next CM and I am embarking on a statewide tour tomorrow (Monday). Don't come stand in front of me and ask me any more questions now. I have made everything clear," he said.
