The CBI FIR also includes charges against Yeddyurappa's two sons and his son-in-law.
The CBI FIR has two cases against Yeddyurappa -- one under the prevention of corruption act and the second one under the mines and minerals act.
The CBI had held a series of meetings on Monday before filing the chargesheet. The meetings held at New Delhi discussed the manner in which they had to go through with the investigation.
The investigating agency, which has a specially constituted team, will collect documents in the first stage and then go ahead and interrogate the witnesses and accused in the case.
The CBI which has to file a report in three months had been ordered by the Supreme Court to conduct this probe. The apex court passed the order based on a recommendation by the Central Empowerment Committee.
The CBI will probe Yeddyurappa for allegedly showing favour to some mining companies and also for denotification of land which was alleged to be illegal.
The Lingayat strongman is expected to move the court seeking anticipatory bail. He was advised to do so by his legal team a couple of days back.
