Flying officer Anjali Gupta, the first woman officer in the Indian Air Force who faced Court Martial proceedings for 'indiscipline,' was on Friday dismissed from service.

Upholding the Court Martial ruling, which found Anjali guilty of five of the seven charges slapped against her, Chief of Air Staff S P Tyagi issued an executive order dismissing her from service.

However, the Air Chief, in his order, which was served on the Flying officer on Friday, reduced her sentence from 'cashiering to mere dismissal,' IAF spokesman Wing Commander Mahesh Upsani said in New Delhi. The Court Martial had recommended her cashiering.

Gupta had been charged on seven counts ranging from indiscipline, insubordination to financial misappropriation.
