The death toll in the collapse of a two-storeyed under construction house in northwest Mumbai has risen to seven after one more body was recovered from the debris on Wednesday, police said.
Six more persons were injured after the slab of the structure collapsed at 1730 hrs on Tuesday, they said.
The police have named four officials from the contractors - Al Mehandi Construction - as wanted accused in the case for using 'inferior' material in the construction, which resulted in the casualties.
The victims were at the basement of the 500 sqft structure at Royal Palms Villa, part of the sprawling 240-acre Royal Palms Estate in suburban Goregaon when the upper slab collapsed.
Meanwhile, a statement from Royal Palms India Pvt Ltd issued on Wednesday said that Al Mehandi were to hand over the completed unit to them and it was the contractor's responsibility to hire and employ all the labour and look after their safety.
The dead were identified as Babu Thakur Rathod (35), the supervisor of the site, and Vijay Lakhindar Mandal (30), Anil Kashinath Chavan (18), Chandrakant Gowd (55), Lakshman Balaram Rathod (27), Ratan Mandal (27) and Bahiru Kishan Chavan (18).
The injured -- Vinay Mandal, Raju Mandal, Bhagirath Harijan, Sushil Mandal, Tapan Mandal and Kubya Chavan - have been admitted to local hospitals.
