Heavy rain lashes Mumbai, more on its way

Rains continued to lash Mumbai with the city receiving 210 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, the Meteorological Department said.

Similarly, 119.9 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the suburbs.

Till now, 909.6 mm of rainfall has been recorded in June this year, which is highest compared to last four years.

According to the data on the Met website in June 2009 the city recorded 265.9 mm, 735.5 mm in 2008, 803.3 mm in 2007, and 430.6 mm of rainfall in 2006.

With minor incidents of water logging in low-lying areas, no major rain-related incident has been reported so far. By and large, the rail and road traffic has not been affected.

The municipal corporation's Disaster Management Cell has claimed that there has been no water logging in the city. The Met has forecast heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in some parts of the city with gusty winds.
