Maharashtra Police have reviewed the security provided to Gandhian Anna Hazare in the backdrop of attacks on his two key aides, Director General of PoliceĀ  K Subramanyam said on Wednesday.

Hazare is currently on 'maun vrat' (vow of silence) at his native village Ralegan Siddhi in western Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district.

"I had told Ahmednagar superintendent of Police to review the protection provided to Anna Hazare who already has `Z' category security. The review has been done. It was nothing but asking my subordinates to remain alert," Subramanyam told PTI.

Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal was attacked in Lucknow on Tuesday by a youth with a slipper while he was on his way to attend an event as part of their anti-graft stir.

On October 12, Prashant Bhushan, eminent lawyer and another key associate of Hazare, was attacked by members of a right-wing group in his Supreme Court chambers in Delhi over his remarks over Kashmir.

An IPS officer said the attacks on Team Anna members have prompted the DGP to ask Ahmednagar SP to have a look at the security of the anti-corruption crusader and take precautionary measures so that no such incident involving the Gandhian takes place.

Last month, police had said four guards and two PSOs (Personal Security Officers) were protecting Hazare round theclock.
