Haryana: Mid-day meal lands 25 school kids in hospital

Twenty five school students were admitted to a hospital on Friday when they vomitted after taking mid-day meal at a village in Jhajjar district of Haryana.

Most of the students of class I to V of Govt Senior Secondary School at Saray Aurangabad village were discharged after being given medical treatment.

K L Kathuriya, Medical Superintendent of PDM Hospital, told media persons that the students complained of vomiting and pain in stomach when they were brought here by the school staff on Friday afternoon.

20 students were sent to their homes after checkup while the remaining five were kept under observation but they are out of danger, he said.

Parents of the children demanded an investigation into the matter.

Bahadurgarh SDM Nar Hari Bangar said a team led by Block Education Officer (BEO) had been constituted to probe the matter.

Besides, the health officials had also been asked to take sample of the mid-day meal for testing at a laboratory, he added.
