A suspected terrorist belonging to Harkat-ul-Ansar outfit has been arrested in a joint operation by the Uttarakhand and Punjab police from Haridwar, police said on Friday.

Ahad Lone, a native of village Banwal of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested following a tip-off at Haridwar on Thursda evening, they said.

Lone was wanted in a case of murder in Navashahar of Punjab and police took him to that state after producing him in a court late last evening.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Lone was associated with the terrorist outfit for a long time and it had sent him to Haridwar during Mahakumbh to gather information, the sources said.

However, due to tough security arrangements, he could not do much. Later, he went to Dehra Dun and worked in a factory for some time before coming back to Haridwar.
