Harish Khare appointed PM's media advisor

Dr Harish Khare has been appointed media advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Dr Khare, 63, political editor of The Hindu newspaper, is also chairman of the Rajya Sabha's media advisory committee.

A PhD in political science from Yale University, Dr Khare has been editor of The Times of India's Ahmedabad edition and also served as a senior editor at The Hindustan Times.

He is married to Renana Jhabvala, a senior official at SEWA, Ahmedabad, and novelist Ruth Prawer Jhabvala's daughter.
