A three-day convention of Gujaratis from across the globe will be held in New York from July 7, with an aim to spur the networking of the community in business, professional, cultural, social, religious and educational fields.
The newly formed Gujarati Association of North America, which is organising the event, says it expects around 2,000 delegates, which will make it the biggest-ever gathering of people of Gujarati origin.
Topics like problems faced by young people in adjusting to new societies will be discussed, among other things.

The Federation of Indian Associations Tri-state, Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, Gujarati Samaj of New Jersey and other Gujarati Associations from across the United States have promised to support the event, the organisers said.
"This will be a unique way of projecting Gujarat to the whole world and mainstream American communities," said Prakash Shah, chairperson of the convention. Delegates are expected from India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East.
As an added attraction, the organisers say they expect some celebrities from Indian cinema to attend the event.
