Kiriyama Prize: Ramachandra Guha among finalists

Ramachandra Guha's India After Gandhi has been picked among the finalists in the prestigious 12th annual Kiriyama Prize. Conceived to promote greater understanding of South Asia and the Pacific Rim, the award – the winners will divide $30,000 between them -- will be announced on April 1.

Besides Guha, the other finalists in the non-fiction category are:  Tom Bissell's The Father of All Things, Liza Dalby's East Wind Melts the Ice; Susan Mann's The Talented Women of the Zhang Family and Julia Whitty's The

Fragile Edge.

 

In the fiction category, the finalists include, David Malouf's Complete Stories, Lloyd Jones' Mister Pip, Nicole Mones' The Last Chinese Chef,  Roma Tearne's Mosquito and Zhu's  I Love Dollars.
