Film star and brand ambassador of the TAG Heuer company, Sushmita Sen, on Saturday teed off the Precision Golf tournament in Srinagar at the Royal Springs Golf Course, which international golfer Jyoti Randhawa has described as 'the prettiest golf course in Asia'.

Ranjan Bhattacharya, Johny Suri and some other prominent corporate honchos participated in the non-professional corporate one-day event.

The inauguration of the course provided an idyllic setting for the launch of TAG Heuer 's prestigious Tiger Woods-designed golf TAG Heuer wristwatch.

The 20-hole sprawling Royal Springs Golf Course has the lofty Zabarwan mountains in the backdrop and the majestic Dal Lake before it.

This makes the course the envy of all great golfers in India who argue that one day this will be the ultimate destination of golfers in the world.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed provided the game with a shotgun start.

"The game was played on a stroke-play format with handicap divisions segregated into 0-10 and 11-20 categories. The scoring was done on the Double Peoria system, where each player's handicap is determined by his scores on 12 hidden holes," a statement issued by TAG Heuer said.

"The net score of each player is then determined by reducing the handicap derived through the Double Peoria system from the gross score," the statement mentioned.

"I am honoured to be a part of TAG Heuer's association with the game of golf and a witness to the TAG Heuer Precision Golf tournament at the most heavenly location in the country, Srinagar," said brand ambassador Sushmita Sen.

"It is a homecoming for me. I came here on a visit when I was just nine years old. Film-makers should not go outside the country. Our own Switzerland (Kashmir) presents immense potential for outdoor shooting," said Sen.

The Tiger Woods-designed golf watch was introduced at the tournament in Srinagar.

"The TAG Heuer Professional Golf Watch has shattered the belief that professional golfers cannot wear a wristwatch during the game as it can seriously hinder their swing and impact performance," said Ravi Thakran, president Asia Pacific LVMH Watch and Jewellery.

The watch is available in a limited edition of 8000 pieces worldwide and 250 in India.
