Man seeks Rs 5 crore for goat; finds no buyers

December 21, 2007 21:11 IST

Badshah is a unique goat, or at least that is what his owner thinks. So he is demanding over Rs five crore for it and his pound of flesh.

Owner of the goat, Faiz Mohammed, claims the 45-kg goat has marks resembling the names of the Prophet and Allah on its body. Also, behind its ear, the marks resemble the word Mecca, he told PTI.

"This is a very unique goat and hence the price," he told PTI about the goat, for which he is demanding Rs 5,51,00,786.

The goat was brought to the city ahead of the festival Eid-ul-Zoha being celebrated on Friday. As part of the festival, members of the Muslim community offer a goat as sacrifice.

Mohammed had tried to seek police protection for the goat due to its price, but failed to impress local authorities with his argument. Municipal authorities at the abattoir in suburban Deonar also refused to provide security saying it was private property.

However, while most of the other goats at the abattoir made their way for sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zoha, Badshah found no buyer, possibly on account of his high price tag.

"So far, there has been no one who has come to purchase him, but I am hopeful that there will be someone who will come forward in the coming days," Mohammed said.
