Gilani approves projects for Pak's strategic programme

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday approved projects aimed at further strengthening Pakistan's strategic programme.

Gilani granted approval for the unspecified projects during a visit to the Khushab Nuclear Complex, which houses some of Pakistan's most important nuclear facilities, said a statement issued by the premiers office.

The statement did not give details. The premier was received at the complex by Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Gen Tariq Majeed, Strategic Plans Division chief Lt Gen (retired) Khalid Kidwai and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Ansar Pervez.

Gilani was given a comprehensive briefing on various facilities of the Khushab complex and future modernisation plans.

He went around the facilities and witnessed various processes. He also expressed appreciation for the achievements of nuclear scientists, engineers and technicians working at the Khushab Nuclear Complex, in particular their commitment and resolve in strengthening national security, the statement said.

Gilani also announced a month's bonus for all employees of Khusab Nuclear Complex.
