Investigators of the German Bakery blast in Pune are now exploring the possibility of involvement of illegal Bangladeshi migrants in the incident that claimed 15 lives.

The Pune Police appealed to people on Wednesday to inform them about illegal Bangladeshis in the city. Talking to reporters in Pune, Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said it was likely that Bangladeshi migrants staying illegally in the city were working in the construction and jewellery industry.

Singh, who also had a meeting with autorickshaw drivers' representatives, appealed to them to come forward if they had any information about any customer being dropped at the bakery on February 13 evening, prior to the blast. On the much trumpeted ban on wearing scarves for two-wheeler riders, Singh clarified that it was an "appeal" and not meant to be a punishable offence.

The police had on Saturday issued directive against use of scarves as it concealed identity of the rider. To a question, the Commissioner said the sketch of the blast suspect was yet to be ready for release. On the progress of investigations by ATS, Singh said many persons had been questioned but refused to name any group suspected of planning the terror attack."We will know the group only when we know the accused," he said.
