It was one helluva time for gaming geeks in Mumbai. Some 62 participants, selected from more than 26,000 mobile gamers from all over the country, converged for the virtual battle at the finals of the all-India Nokia N-Gage QD Challenge on October 31. At stake was a cash prize of Rs 10,00,000 ($21,834).

The six-week nationwide hunt for India's first mobile gaming champion ended with Sachin Sapra from Gurgaon winning the title.

Sapra is now the country's first mobile gaming icon.

Sachin recorded a score of 4,240 while playing "Hero Commando" on N-Gage QD, Nokia's latest mobile gaming device. Taking home the million rupee prize, an ecstatic Sachin said: "When I first heard about the championship, I was sure I wanted to participate but did not expect to become the winner."
