Hail the new genius of Indian fashion -- Sabyasachi Mukerjee.
He was spotted at LIFW 2002. Last year, his show -- where models wore boxing gloves, black eyes and baby bumps as accessories -- created a splash. This year again, he walked away with a standing ovation for his clothes.
Lush velvets teamed with cotton, lace and organza, all stained and washed to give it a vintage cool look. Models chewing on bread and chocolate walked the ramp lazily to the strains of a live violin. It was a Parisian evening come alive, which is what he wanted.
Sabyasachi Mukerjee's show proves he is the master of the ramp; he has the ability to present his collection in a way that creates a buzz among the audience.
There were saris, little crochet blouses, quilted jackets and pleated skirts in this only womenswear line.

And it worked. While shows earlier in the day were barely half full, people stood in the aisles to watch Sabyasachi, who has established himself as the new star in Indian fashion horizon.
Sabyasachi has priced his collection between Rs 600 and Rs 12,000.
