Priyadarshini Rao: Feminine and playful

April 29, 2004 13:25 IST

A model in Priyadarshini RaoDesigner Priyadarshini Rao went back to Nature to turn out a collection that was very feminine and playful.

Style statement: A range of skirts, coats, shirts and pants. Long layered A-line skirts in georgettes and silks teamed with crushed silk blouses and worn with ankle-length coats.

The next line had a range of patchwork dresses with drawstring necklines, crinkled shirts and lightweight velvet tunics.

Delicate thread embroidery in floral patterns was used to embellish the skirts and dresses along with tie-n-dye leheriya patterns and appliques.

The colours: The colours were bright and warm -- fuschia, orange, sapphire, turquoise blue, mauve and butterscotch.

Rao largely showed women's wear, deviating just a few times to show a collection of suits for men in colours like beige, grey and white.

Not too radical: Priyadarshini Rao's collection was fairly predictable.

She remains one of the bestselling designers at BE, Gautam Singhania's fashion stores across the country. And, in the end, that is what counts!
