46 pc Raj lawmakers crorepatis; 18 pc have criminal cases against them

In the newly elected Rajasthan Legislative assembly, 145 out of the 199 members of Legislative Assembly are crorepatis. In a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms, it is stated that the crorepati percentage in the Rajasthan Assembly is 73 per cent.

In 2008, out of 197 MLAs analysed, 90 (46 per cent) MLAs were crorepatis.

120 (74per cent) out of 162 BJP MLAs are crorepatis while 14 (67per cent) out of 21 MLAs of INC are crorepatis.

All four MLAs of NPP, 2 MLAs of the Bahujan Samaj Party, 4 Indepemdents and one MLA from National Unionist Zamindara Party are croprepatis.

The average asset per MLA in the Rajasthan 2013 assembly elections is Rs 5.81 crore. In 2008, it was Rs 2.08 crore for the 197 MLAs analysed.

The average asset per MLA for BJP is Rs.4.17 crore and for INC it is Rs 9.41 crore. BSP MLAs have an average assets of Rs.12.06 crore, for National People's Party it is Rs 4.53 crore, for 2 MLAs of NUZP it is Rs.98.71 crore and Independendent MLAs have average assets of Rs.4.39 crore.

The top three MLAs with highest declared assets are Kamini Jindal of the NUZP from Ganganagar constituency with declared assets of Rs 197.42 crore followed by Vishwendra Singh of the Indian National Congress from Deeg-Kumher constituency with assets worth Rs 118.96 crore, and Prem Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Neem Ka Thana constituency with declared assets worth Rs 87.70 crore.

Sona Devi of the NUZP from Raisinghnagar constituency has declared lowest assets worth Rs 61,357 followed by Dhiraj Gurjar of the INC from Jahazpur constituency with assets worth Rs.2.88 lakh and Shimla Bhawri of the BJP from Anupgarh constituency has declared assets worth Rs 9.17 lakh.

A total of 35 MLAs have declared liabilities of Rs. 50 lakh and above.

The top three MLAs with highest declared liabilities are Prem Singh of the BJP from Neem Ka thana constituency with declared liabilities worth Rs 46.02 crore, followed byVishwendra Singh of the INC from Deeg Kumher constituency with liabilities of Rs. 40.12 crore and Ashok Parnami of BJP from Adarsh nagar constituency with declared liabilities of Rs 16.90 crore.

Criminal cases:

Eighteen per cent or 36 of the 199 MLAs have declared criminal cases against them. In 2008, 16 per cent or 31 MLAs had declared criminal cases out of 197 MLAs analysed. The BJP has 28 (17 per cent) out of 162, the INC has 5(24 per cent) out of 21 MLAs who have declared criminal cases.

Two Independent MLAs and one NPP MLA have declared criminal cases against them.

Out of the 36 MLAs with criminal cases, 19 MLAs have declared serious criminal cases like murder, kidnapping and extortion.

Gulab chand Kataria of the BJP from Udaipur constituency has declared murder charges against him.
