A 16-year old girl was killed and four civilians were injured in the heavy Pakistan army firing in the frontier Poonch district of Jammu region.

In a separate incident of ceasefire violation along the Line of Control, Pakistan troops resorted to heavy firing in the Saujian sector on Friday afternoon, according to a defence spokesman.

“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing at our positions in the Saujian sector this afternoon. One girl was killed on the spot while four other civilians, all men, were injured,” Defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told rediff.com on Friday evening.

The injured were shifted to hospital by the local MLA, the spokesman added.

This is the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the same sector in past two days. Pakistani troops had resorted to heavy firing in Saujian sector Thursday evening.

The two countries had agreed to a bilateral ceasefire on the LoC and on the international border in November, 2003 which held nicely for a long time.
