4 more minor girls raped in UP

Amid uproar over the brutal rape of a minor girl in Delhi, similar horror stories continued to pour in from other parts with four minor girls being allegedly sexual assaulted in Uttar Pradesh.

In Deoria district, a five-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a 15-year-old boy in Bhatparani area on Sunday evening, police said.

The victim's family informed the police about the incident on Tuesday after which the accused was arrested, they said.

In Hamirpur district, an eight-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a waiter during a marriage function in Raath area last night, police said.

Sukh Singh was nabbed by the people after they heard cries of the girl, police said.

Similarly, a 14-year-old Dalit girl was abducted and raped allegedly by one Meraj, 22, in Leharpur area of Sitapur district on Sunday night, they said.

Police said that Meraj was arrested.

In the fourth incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by four persons in Bansdeeh area in Ballia district, police said.

The accused have been arrested.

The victim was kidnapped by four youths while she went to call her mother from a nearby temple on Sunday night. The youths later gang raped her at a secluded place, police said.

Perturbed with the incident, the girl attempted suicide, but was saved by the family members, police said.

Devendra Kumar, Shyam Lal, Manoj Kumar and Amresh Kumar were arrested this morning, officiating SP Ashok Tripathi said.

Large scale protests were witnessed in Aligarh last week after a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped, killed and dumped in a garbage in Banna Devi area.
