4 more arrested in Mangalore homestay attack case

Four more persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the controversial attack on students in a homestay in Mangalore, taking the total number of those detained to 12.

The police had on Sunday arrested eight persons in connection with the July 28 moral policing act, which has triggered an outrage from opposition parties and public after video footage of the attack was aired by TV channels.

A group of suspected activists of a Hindu outfit had raided the homestay
and attacked boys and girls present there alleging that a rave party was on there.

About 100 people, including some women Congress activists and Left party workers, were detained by police for staging a protest over the issue defying prohibitory orders in force in the town.

They were let off later.Police have clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of Cr.PC for three days since Sunday as a precautionary measure in the after the aftermath of the attack.
