Four Maoists were killed on Monday in an encounter with security personnel in Latehar district's Katia forests, the police said.
"Three Maoists were killed on the spot during an encounter with security forces in Katia forests, while villagers said the rebels carried away one body," Deputy Inspector General R K Dhan said.
The bodies of the three rebels were recovered, he said, adding that two rifles, one INSAS rifle and a walkie-talkie were recovered from the encounter site. Acting on a tip-off that over 100 rebels had assembled in the forest last night, a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force, CoBRA and Jharkhand Jaguar rushed to the spot and the encounter took place at around 10 am on Monday, Dhan said.
The location of the encounter was near Maoist-dominated spot where the ultras had killed 13, including 10 security men, in January this year.
