Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh on Thursday launched the e-Office initiative aimed at reducing paperwork and increasing the efficiency of the government.

Part of the mission mode project under the National e-Governance Plan, the administration division in the external affairs ministry will begin electronic processing of files with immediate effect.

The foreign secretary rolled out e-Office by appending her digital signature to a proposal submitted electronically seeking her approval for implementation of the project in the ministry.

Developed by the National Informatics Centre, e-Office would be gradually rolled out to the other divisions in the Ministry after its successful implementation in the administration division and Indian Missions and Posts subsequently.
