Uttar Pradesh
The Samajwadi Party is emerging as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh by leading in 190 of the total 403 seats in the assembly.
The Bahujan Samaj Party, which had won an absolute majority with 206 seats in the 2007 polls, is leading in 101 seats, whereas Congress-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance is ahead in 52 and BJP in 49 seats.
Samajwadi Party's Ajay Kumar won the Bara Assembly seat defeating BSP's Bholanath Chaudhary by about 3,700 votes.
BJP national vice president and Rajya Sabha member Kalraj Mishra won from Lucknow east seat by a margin of 20,188 votes. Mishra defeated his nearest SP rival Juhi Singh.
UP BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi was defeated in Pathardeva constituency by a margin of 4,800 by SP's Shakir Ali.
Sitting independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari, who fought elections under the 'Quami Ekta Dal', wins from Mau Sadar seat by defeating his nearest rival Bhim Rajbhar of BSP by a margin of about 5,000 votes.
Former UP minister and sitting Handia MLA Rakesh Dhar Tripathi has lost to Mahesh Narain Singh of Samajwadi Party by a margin of over 45,000 votes.
Tripathi had won the seat in 2007 on a BSP ticket but left the party upon his expulsion from the state cabinet following allegations of corruption against him.
The former minister for Higher Education fought the current elections as a candidate of fledgling outfit Pragatisheel Manav Samaj Party.
BJP leader Salil Vishnoi defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Jitender Bhadur Singh in Kanpur's Arya Nagar seat by a margin of 15,374 votes. In Kanpur Cantt, BJP leader Raghunandan Bhadoria defeats Samajwadi Party candidate Hasan Rumi by a margin of 9,308 votes.
Louis Khurshid, wife of Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, lost from Farukkhabad Assembly seat where independent candidate Vijay Singh defeated BJP's Major Sunil Dutt Dwiwedi by a slender margin of 147 votes.
Leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly and SP nominee Shivpal Yadav retained Jaswantnagar seat by defeating BSP's Manish Yadav by a margin of 81,084 votes.
Heavyweight D P Yadav lost from Sahaswan Assembly seat where Onkar Singh Yadav of SP won defeating BSP's Babar Miyan by 7,062 votes. Yadav had contested as a candidate of his own party Rashtriya Parivartan Dal.
Sitting Congress MLA Amita Sinh was defeated by SP candidate Gyatri Prasad Prajapati by a margin of over 7000 votes in Amethi.
Former Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey won from Etwa seat by the margin of 9,000 votes from Congress candidate Mohammad Mukeem.
SP leader Mahendra Pratap Singh alias Jheen Babu defeated his nearest rival congress candidate Ammar Rizvi by margin of 2,446 votes from Sevta seat.
In Sitpur seat, sitting SP MLA Radhey Shyam retained his seat while in Mehmoodabad seat Narendra Verma of SP defeated Ahmad Ansari of BSP by 19,618 votes.
In Biswan seat Rampal Yadav of SP defeated sitting BSP member of Legislative Assembly Nirmal verma by 7,387 votes.
Tejpal Singh of RLD defeated Agriculture Minister and BSP candidate Chaudhary Laxmi Narain from Chhata assembly seat by a margin of 14,392 votes.
Among prominent candidates, Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Kalraj Mishra in Lucknow East, Uma Bharati in Charkhari, Shivpal Singh Yadav in Jaswantnagar, Congress state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi were leading, whereas BJP state president Surya Pratap Shahi in Pathardeva and Vidhan Sabha speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar were trailing.
In bastion of the Nehru-Gandhi family Amethi, Congress is trailing in two of the five seats, whereas in Rae Bareli the party is trailing in all five seats. In the SP stronghold Etawah, the party is leading in all three seats.
In the state capital where BJP had been dominating from more than a decade, SP was leading in North, West and Mohanlalganj seats, cabinet minister Nakul Dubey in Bakshi ka Talab seat and Nationalist Communist Party in Malihabad.

Shiromani Akali Dal created history on Tuesday to become the first party ever to retain power in Punjab bucking the anti-incumbency factor with Parkash Singh Badal, the grand old man of the state politics, and his son Sukhbir Singh leading the charge.
From Moga, Congress' sitting MLA Joginder Pal Jain defeated former Punjab DGP and Shiromani Akali Dal candidate P S Gill by a margin of over 4,000 votes.
Senior SAD leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa emerged victorious from Sunam defeating his nearest Congress rival Aman Arora by over 4,000 votes.
Kuljit Singh Nagra of the Congress upset SAD General Secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra's applecart from Fatehgarh Sahib, winning by a margin of over 3,000 votes.
Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister and SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal wins from Jalalabad seat by a margin of 50,289 votes.
The other SAD winners were Manpreet Singh Aiyali (Dakha), Pawan Kumar Tinu (Adampur), Sharanjit Singh Dhillon (Sahnewal), Sarwam Singh (Kartarpur), Mantar Singh Brar (Kot Kapura) and Sikander Singh Maluka (Rampura Phul).
Congress won Talwandi Sabo, Amritsar Central, Rajpura, Nabha and Patiala seats, while SAD won Balchaur, Attari, Faridkot and Ghanuar. BJP won the Amritsar East seat.
Gulzar Singh Ranike of the SAD retained the Attari seat defeating his nearest rival Tarsem Singh (Cong) by a margin of 4,983 votes.
SADs Harpreet Kaur defeated Madan Lal Jalalpur of Congress by a margin of 1,778 votes to win from Ghanaur. BJP member of Parliament Navjot Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur, who was elected from Amritsar East constituency, defeating her nearest rival Simarpreet Kaur (Independent) by a margin of 7,099 votes.
From Bolath seat, former SGPC President, Bibi Jagir Kaur of SAD beat Congress' Sukhpal Singh Khaira by a margin of 7005 votes.
From Bhadaur constituency, Congress Mohd Sadiq defeated D S Guru, a former IAS officer who contested as SAD candidate, by a margin of 6969 votes.
From Dharamkot, senior SAD leader and former Minister, Tota Singh beat Surjit Singh of Congress by 4255 votes. Dhuri Assembly seat was won by Congress' Arvind Khanna who beat Gobind Singh of SAD by 12,473 votes.
Senior BJP leader Tikshan Sud was defeated from Hoshiarpur by Congress' S S Arora.
From Malerkotla, first-timer and SAD candidate Farzana Alam, wife of retired DGP Mohd Izhar Alam, defeated Congress' sitting MLA Razia Sultana of Congress by 5200 votes.
Nawanshahr seat was won by Congress' Guriqbal Kaur who beat SAD's Satinder Kaur of SAD by 1,759 votes.
Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma won from Pathankot defeating his nearest Congress rival Raman Bhalla by a margin of 17,586 votes.
Former Indian Hockey captain and SAD candidate Pargat Singh won from Jalandhar Cantt by defeating Congress rival Jagbir Singh Brar by a margin of 6,798 votes.Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh retained Patiala constituency by defeating ruling SAD's Surjit Singh Kohli by a margin of 42,318 votes. His son Raninder Singh lost by 6,930 votes from Samana seat.
SAD suffered a jolt from Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district when senior leader and Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur lost to Navtej Singh of the Congress, who won by a margin of 4,298 votes.
From Adampur constituency in Jalandhar district, Pawan Kumar Tinoo of SAD defeated his Congress rival Satnam Singh Kainth by a margin of 19,306 votes.
From Sahnewal assembly constituency near Ludhiana, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon of SAD won by a margin of 21216 votes over Congress' Vikram Singh Bajwa.
From Barnala, Congress' Kewal Singh Dhillon retained the seat defeating Malkit Singh Kittu of Congress by a margin of 5,522 votes.
Amritsar West was bagged by Raj Kumar of Congress who beat BJP's Rakesh Gill by a margin of 11,591 votes.
Khadoor Sahib (SC) seat went to Congress' R S Sikki who defeated SAD's senior leader and sitting MLA from Navshera Panuan, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, by a margin of 3,054 votes.
From Mohali, Balbir Singh Sidhu defeated SAD's Balwant Singh Ramoowalia by a margin of 16,756 votes. Gurdaspur went to SAD's Gurbachan Singh Babbehali who retained the seat defeating Congress' Raman Behl by a margin of 21,570 votes.
From Kartarpur segment, Sarwan Singh of SAD beat Jagjit Singh of Congress by a margin of 823 votes.
Kotkapura in Faridkot district was won by Mantar Singh Brar of the SAD who defeated Congress' sitting MLA Ripjit Singh Brar by a margin of 18,186 votes.
Rampura Phul in Bathinda was won by SAD's senior leader Sikander Singh Maluka, who defeated sitting MLA Gurpreet Singh Khanger of Congress by 5136 votes.
Punjab's Revenue Minister, Ajit Singh Kohar, sitting MLA from Lohia, defeated Col (retd) C D Kamboj of Congress from the Shahkot assembly segment by a margin of 5,435 votes.
From Jalandhar Central, BJP's senior leader and former minister, Manoranjan Kalia won by a margin of 1,065 votes over his Congress rival Rajinder Beri.
Anandpur Sahib went to BJP when senior leader Madan Mohan Mittal defeated Kanwar Pal Singh of Congress by a margin of 7,886 votes. From Phagwara, Som Prakash of the BJP defeated Balbir Kumar Sodhi of Congress by a margin of 14,579 votes.
BJP candidate Navjot Kaur, wife of Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, wins Amritsar (East) constituency by defeating an independent candidate by a margin of 7099 votes.
From Maur Assembly segment in Faridkot, Punjab minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon of SAD defeated Mangat Rai Bansal of Congress by a margin of 1,387 votes. Punjab People's Party President Manpreet Singh Badal finished at number three.
Manpreet is also contesting from Gidderbaha, the constituency which he has represented on four occasions, but from there too he was trailing, according to the available trends.
From Jaitu (SC) seat, Joginder Singh of Congress defeated Gurinder Singh of SAD by 6,342 votes.
From Dakha, Manpreet Singh of SAD defeated Jasbir Singh Khangura of Congress by a margin of 16,338 votes. Harmeet Singh Sandhu retained his Tarn Taran seat defeating Congress' Dharamvir Agnihotri by a margin of 4,621 votes.
SAD's Deep Malhotra defeated Avtar Singh Brar of Congress by a margin of 2,727 votes in Faridkot. In Ghanaur, Harpreet Kaur of SAD defeated Madan Lal Jalalpur of Congress by a margin of 1778 votes.
Sadhu Singh of Congress won from Nabha (SC) constituency defeating his nearest SAD rival by a margin of 22,548 votes.
SAD's Nand Lal beat Tarsem Singh of the Congress by a margin of 4,983 votes from Balachaur constituency. From Rajpura, Hardial Singh of Congress beat BJP's Raj Khurana by a margin of 31,510 votes.
Congress candidate Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu won theTalwandi Sabo seat by defeating his nearest rival Amarjeet Singh Sidhu of SAD by a margin of 8,524 votes. From Amritsar Central, O P Soni of Congress defeated his nearest rival Tarun Chugh of BJP by a margin of 12,797 votes.
The Congress was leading in 38 assembly constituencies while Independents were leading in two constituencies of Mukerian and Amargarh, according to trends available so far.
The SAD was leading in 60 constituencies and its alliance partner BJP in 11 constituencies. Chief ministerial aspirants Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder Singh were leading from Lambi and Patiala respectively.
Parkash Singh Badal was leading votes over his nearest rival and cousin Mahesh Inder Singh Badal of the INC from Lambi. Parkash Singh Badals' younger brother Gurdas Singh Badal was at the third spot.
Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma was leading over his nearest rival Raman Bhalla of the Congress from the Pathankot assembly constituency.
Badal senior's estranged nephew Manpreet, who formed the People's Party of Punjab was at the third spot from Maur where SAD's Janmeja Singh Sekhwan was leading over his nearest rival Mangat Rai Bansal of the Congress.
The other key leaders include Hockey Olympian Pargat Singh (SAD- Jalandhar Cantt), Finance Minister Upinderjit Kaur (SAD- Sultanpur Lodhi), and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal (Congress-Lehra).
Manipur
Congress gets majority in Manipur by securing 33 out of 49 seats in 60-member assembly.
In Khundrakpam constituency in Imphal east district, Congress candidate Th Lokeshore Singh won the seat defeating his BJP rival I. Mangiton by over 900 votes.
In Phungyar assembly constituency in Ukhrul district, Congress candidate Victor Keishing, son of former chief minister Rishang Keishing, won the seat defeating Naga Peoples Front nominee Honrei Kashung by 100 votes.
Congress candidate Prithiviraj Singh won Moirang assembly constituency in Bishenpur district defeating NCP nominee P Sharatchandra Singh by over 1000 votes.
In Wabgai assembly constituency in Imphal West district, Congress nominee Fazur Rahim won it defeating U Deven of Trinamool Congress by over 500 votes.
In prestigious Yaiskul constituency, Congress nominee E Chand won the seat defeating independent Jayadev Sharma by over 300 votes. In Patsoi assembly constituency, Congress candidate A K Mirabai won the seat defeating Kunjeshore Singh of Trinamool Congress by over 600 votes.
In Naoriya Pakhang Lakpa, Congress' R K Anand defeated K Rojenkumar of Trinamool Congress by some 500 votes. In Bishenpur assembly constituency K Govindas of Congress defeated Kh Jibon of Trinamool by over 300 votes.
Congress' Francis Ngajokpa defeated K Rain of Naga People Front in Tadubi Constituency. Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh defeated his nearest rival O Indira of BJP in Thoubal assembly constituency by over 10,000 votes.
Congress candidate and wife of Chief Minister O Landhoni won the Khangabok seat defeating Manipur People's Party nominee L Jatra by over 200 votes.
Naga People's Front nominee Daikho defeated his nearest Congress rival P T Arhai by over 2000 votes in the Mao assembly constituency.
Congress leader and Education minister D D Thaisi was defeated by Naga People's Front candidate Alexandar Pou by 7000 votes in Karong assembly constituency.
Congress candidate Kh Debendra won the Sekmai assembly seat defeating Trinamool Congress nominee Kh Dingo Singh by over 600 votes.
Manipur State Congress Party candidate Karam Thamarjit Singh won the Keirao seat defeating Minority minister Alaudin of Congress by over 500 votes.
Congress candidate Dr Chalonlien Amo won the Tipaimukh assembly seat in Manipur defeating his nearest Trinamool Congress rival L Fimate by over 1,000 votes.
Amin Shah of Congress won the Khetrigao assembly seat defeating his nearest NCP rival Th Nandakishore by over 200 votes.
State Congress chief Gaikhangam won the pretigious Nungba seat defeating Manipur State Congress Party candidate Admi Panmei by over 3,000 votes.
Lok Jana Sakti Party candidate Karam Shyam defeated veteran Manipur People Party leader O Joy in the prestigious Langthabal assembly seat by over 700 votes. Joy had represented the seat for over five terms. Congress candidate and Social Welfare minister N Loken won the Nambol seat defeating former union sports minister Th Chaoba Singh of Manipur People's Party by over 900 votes.
Forest Minister and Congress candidate, Th Debendra Singh won the Jiribam seat defeating A Biren of Trinamool Congress by over 2.000 votes.
Debendra Singh has been representing the constituency for over 5 terms.
Goa
BJP-MGP combine gets majority in Goa. BJP leaders who have won include Ganesh Gaonkar from Sanvordem, Mahadev Naik from Siroda, Kiran Kandolkar from Tivim and Anant Shet from Maem. Ramesh Tawadkar and Nilesh Cabral are other party leaders leading from their respective constituencies.
The BJP has managed to gain seats in most of the Congress dominated constituencies such as Aldona, Calangute, Sanvordem, Tivim, Vasco, Cotalim, Curchorem and others.
The BJP is leading in another four constituencies including the seat of the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Manohar Parrikar in Panaji. Parrikar is leading by almost 4,000 votes against Congress Yatin Parekh.
The Congress has until now got victory in four constituencies including its senior leader Pratapsingh Rane in Poriem and Atanasio Monserratte in St Cruz constituency.
The Congress is trailing in about nine seats, managing to win only in five seats. Congress heavyweights Ravi Nayak and Pratap Singh Rane are leading in Ponda and Poriem seats respectively.
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat is leading from Margao constituency by 1,300 votes.
The Congress in Goa is suffering a major embarrassment after all its major leaders suffered a defeat. The 'family raj' seems to have worked against the party as three of the candidates from Alemao family- Churchil Aleamo (Navelim), his bother Joaquim (Cuncolim) and daughter Valanka suffered defeat in Benaulim.
Similarly, Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar's brother Daku Madkaikar contesting from Priol also suffered defeat at the hands of MGP. A total of three independent candidates have won while Goa Vikas Party has won two seats.
MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar said the combination will stake claim to form the government. "We will form the government in the next two days," he said, adding BJP's Parrikar is the preferred chief ministerial candidate.
Congress candidate Mauvin Godinho has won the Dabolim seat defeating his nearest rival Premanand Nasnodkar of MGP by a margin of 944 votes, while the party is also leading in Quepem. Its ally NCP is leading in Tivim.
Congress candidate from Cuncolim constituency Joaquim Aleamo lost to BJP's candidate Subhash Naik while Dayanand Narvekar lost to BJP's Glen Ticlo in Aldona constituency. In Calangute constituency, BJP's Michael Lobo won against Congress' Agnelo Fernandes.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhas Shirodkar also suffered a defeat at the hands of BJP's Mahadev Naik in Shiroda constituency.
BJP has so far managed to get seven seats while it is leading in four.Congress has so far managed to get only two seats that to South Goa.
BJP alliance partner MGP has gained one seat while its leading in one.Goa Vikas Party bagged one seat.
Congress alliance partner NCP also suffered defeat with its candidate and sitting MLA Nilkhant Halarnkar losing to MGP's Kiran Kandolakar from Tivim constituency.
Meanwhile, Former Tourism Minister and Goa Vikas Party candidate Franciso Pacheco has won in Nuvem, where he defeated Congress candidate Alexio Sequeira. Pacheco had contested from Benaulim constituency in 2007 on NCP ticket.
In Fatorda constituency, independent candidate Vijay Sardesai won against BJP candidate. Naresh Sawal defeated Congress candidate in Bicholim constituency.
BJP candidate Ramesh Tawadkar was leading in Canocona. BJP sitting MLA Damodar Naik is facing tough fight in Fatorda from independent Vijay Sardessai, who is leading by 996 votes.
Goa Vikas Party has maintained its leading trend in two constituencies in South Goa in the second round. Congress heavyweight Ravi Naik is facing a tough battle in Ponda.
Uttarakhand
Chief Minister BC Khanduri lost to SS Negi of the Congress from Kotdwar seat.
Uttarakhand Congress chief Yashpal Arya won from Baajpur seat defeating Rajkumar of BJP by 15,075 votes. BJP state president Bishan Singh Chufal won from Didihaat seat defeating Rewati Joshi of Congress by 10,617 votes.
Manoj Tiwari of Congress won from Almora seat defeating Raghunath Singh Chauhan of BJP by over 1,000 votes. Ajay Bhatt of BJP defeated Karan Mehra of Congress from Ranikhet seat by 88 votes.
Tourism Minister Madan Kaushik of BJP defeated Satpal Bhramchari of Congress from Haridwar seat by 8,603 votes. Sarwar Singh Ansari of BSP defeated Kazi Nizamuddin of Congress by 713 votes from Mangalore seat.
A neck-and-neck race is on in Uttarakhand where the ruling BJP is leading in 28 seats and the Congress in 26 in the 70-member Assembly.
Arvind Pandey of the BJP retained Gadarpur seat defeating Genrail Singh Kali, an independent by 5,835 votes.
Adesh Chauhan of BJP won from Ranipur seat defeating Ambrish Kumar, an independent candidate by 3,500 votes. Harbhajan Singh Cheema of BJP defeated Manoj Joshi of Congress to retain kashipur seat by a margin of 2,382 votes.
Sanjay Gupta of BJP won from Laksar seat defeating Haji Taslim of BSP by 10,400 votes. Haridass of BSP won from Jharbera seat defeating Rajpal of Congress by 3,817 votes.

Yastishwaranand of BJP won from Haridwar Rural defeating Irshad of Congress by 6,000 votes. Puran Singh Rawat of BJP won from Lohaghat seat defeating Mahendra Singh Mahra of Congress by 11,535 votes.
Congress leader Indira Hridayesh won from Haldwani seat. Prem Singh Rana of BJP wins from Nanakmatta seat in Kumaon region defeating G S Rana of Congress by over 5,600 votes.
The BSP was leading in five seats while Uttarakhand Kranti Dal-Panwar (Uttarakhand Kranti Dal-Progressive) was leading in one seat while others were ahead in the rest of the five seats.
Uttarkhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri, who was initially trailing, has taken a lead of 500 votes against S S Negi of Congress in the Kotdwar seat, officials said.

Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said his party will get "comfortable majority" in Uttarakhand to form government on its own.
"As far as chief ministership is concerned, that will be decided by the party. But Congress will form the government in Uttarakhand that I am confident. We will form the government with the quiet good margin," Rawat, minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, said.
The Congress leader expressed full faith in the wisdom of the people of the State and said that Congress will get comfortable majority.
To a question whether he will be made chief minister of the State in case Congress is voted to power, the Congress party leader said, "Harish Rawat is a humble soldier. Our
focus is on the future. Congress traditionally does not project a leader where we are not in power".
The first result in Uttarakhand went in favour of BJP when its candidate Kiran Chand Mandal defeated BSP's Narayan Pal in Sitarganj seat.
