Anshu Jamsenpa was felicitated by the Nepal government after she climbed three Himalayan peaks in six days.
Anshu Jamsenpa, a female mountaineer, from Arunachal Pradesh has scripted history after she climbed three Himalayan peaks successively in six days after setting world records during her earlier Everest expeditions.
Jamsenpa, 28 and a mother of two, scaled Lobuche (6,119 metres), Pokhalde (5,896 m) and IslandPeak (6,189 m) -- successively in six days from May 13 to May 18. She remained undeterred during her trek, despite a deadly avalanche that killed 16 Sherpas just above her camp site.
During the expedition, she trekked through three high passes namely Cho La (5,330 m), Reno (5,360 m) and Kongma La (5,533 m).
Anshu had earlier scaled Mount Everest twice in a gap of 10 days becoming the first mother in the world to do so.
For her efforts and achievements, Jamsenpa was felicitated by the Nepal government. The joint secretary of Nepal congratulating her, said that they would adjust the royalty fee of $11,000 (Rs 6.5 lakh) in her next Everest Expedition scheduled during spring 2015.
She was also felicitated at the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu. Secretary Abhay Kumar presented her a book Remains. He stated that Anshu was the pride of India and her mountaineering achievement was a source of inspiration and encouragement to the youths at large and women in particular.
He also made an audio visual presentation on Earth Anthem, which United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation has hailed as a creative and inspiring initiative that would contribute bringing the world together.
The diplomat requested Anshu to be one of the global ambassadors for Earth Anthem to which she agreed in principle.
