The Environment Ministry is expected to take a final decision on the controversial Adarsh Housing Society in Mumbai on Tuesday when the extension given to it on a show-cause notice comes to an end.

The Ministry, on December 28, had accepted a request from the Society and extended the last date till January 4 for receiving its response on a show-cause notice asking why its 31-storey building at defence land in Mumbai's Colaba should not be demolished for allegedly violating green rules.

It had also made it clear that it will be the last chance for the society to give its response.

On December 27, the society had requested the Ministry to postpone the hearing scheduled for December 29 citing the inordinate flight delays caused because of the "unprecedented weather conditions" and also due to non-availability of the counsels appearing on its behalf.

"This is the last and final opportunity given to you for hearing and no further request shall be entertained for any further postponement or extension of time and the Ministry shall issue the final orders on the show-cause notice based on the facts and the documents available on record," the ministry had said.
