Almost 300 government houses, including the Tughlaq Road home of the late union minister Sunil Dutt, are put on the list of illegaly occupied government quarters.
Telangana Rashtriya Samiti chief K Chandra Shekhar Rao's 23, Tughlaq Road home also figures in the same list of 298 quarters 'illegally occupied despite retirement/death of allottees'.
Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken, however, told the Rajya Sabha in a reply that only nine complaints have so far been received by the Directorate of Estates regarding non-vacation of government quarters after retirement/death of allottees.
"Vacation of quarters after expiry of eligibility is sought to be done expeditiously. Appeals on eviction orders passed by the competent estate officer under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971, and the prevailing rules allowing the family of an expired allottee to retain a house up to two years do not make it feasible to fix a defined time-frame (for vacation)," he added.
