Dom's Take: Filthy Air, but Great Deals?

October 27, 2020 17:27 IST

In a boost to India-US bilateral defence and military ties, both countries signed defence pact BECA at the 2+2 meet in New Delhi on October 27, 2020.

The inking of BECA completes the finalisation of four key pacts between India and the US, which were identified as crucial to significantly expand the strategic relationship.

On October 23, during the final presidential debate with his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in Nashville, Tennessee, President Donald J Trump blamed India and China for not doing enough on climate change, labelling them as regions with air that is impossible to breathe.

'Look at India,' Trump said, 'the air is 'filthy'.

Dominic Xavier offers his take on the 2+2 meeting and what it achieved.
