Flight operations in New Delhi were disrupted for second consecutive day on Tuesday due to heavy fog with about 18 flights, including six international, being delayed and nine being cancelled.
The general visibility at the Indira Gandhi International airport fell below 50 metres and runway visibility range (RVR) dipped to less than 100 metres, bringing a halt to flight operations, sources said.
Nine early morning flights to Jaipur, Bangalore, Srinagar, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Leh were cancelled, they said.
Over 200 flights were delayed and 19 cancelled as a heavy blanket of fog surrounded New Delhi on Monday.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature slipped to eight degree Celsius from Monday's minimum of 8.4 degree Celsius, the Met department said.
Monday's maximum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degree Celsius, one degree less than the normal at this point of the season.
What added to the woes was the cold wind and the thick blanket of fog that engulfed the city skyline.
The Met department said the fog condition will prevail till noon. The city roads wore a deserted look with less number of vehicles playing. Office goers had no option but to brave the cold conditions to reach in time.
Similar conditions are expected to be witnessed on Wednesday as well with the maximum temperature hovering around 20 degree Celsius and the minimum around eight degrees.
