Delhi Master Plan challenged in SC

February 09, 2007 12:12 IST

The Delhi Pradesh Citizen's Council on Friday moved the Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of the Delhi Master Plan-2021 notified by the Centre on Wednesday.

In an application moved through counsel Jasbir Malik, the forum urged the apex court to quash MPD-2021 as being ultra vires and violative of fundamental rights of citizens.

Questioning the notification, the petition alleged that the Centre rushed through the MPD with the twin objectives of appeasing voters and riding roughshod over the directions passed by the Supreme Court in the sealing matter.
