A teenaged mute girl also suffering from hearing loss was allegedly gangraped after being abducted in a village in Bihar's Kaimur district, police on Friday said.

Kamini Kumari (name changed),18, was gangraped at a village in Sonhan area of Kaimur.

Crime against women, especially cases of gangrape, has skyrocketed in Bihar. In state capital Patna alone, half a dozen gangrape cases have been reported in the last few weeks.

"Some youths of the village abducted her when she was returning home after attending the call of nature two days ago and gangraped her," Abhay Kumar, incharge of police station, said.

According to police, the victim was found in a semiconscious state in a school near her house. "When some villagers spotted her, she was too frightened and shocked to say anything," the police said.

"After much persuasion, she agreed to write the names of the culprits. She had written the name of one of the accused," Kumar said.

Police have lodged an FIR against the named accused and others. No arrests have been made, as the accused are absconding.
