Maharashtra's Anti Corruption Bureau Monday arrested suspended police sub inspector Daya Nayak soon after a court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a disproportionate assets case.

Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths took encounter specialist Nayak, along with his associate Rajendra Padate, them to their Worli head office. The duo will be produced in a court Tuesday for remand.

The bail petition was rejected by Judge S P Mahajan, who said a prime facie case had been made out against Nayak and Padate.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and all others who had attended the inauguration of a school allegedly set up by Nayak in his native village some years ago, will be summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to record their statements as witnesses, the prosecution said.

One of the allegations against Nayak is that he donated about Rs one crore to the Radha Nayak Government High School, set up by a trust in Yeennehole in his native village in Udupi district in Karnataka. Nayak is one of the trustees of this trust.

The prosecution alleged that when the school was inaugurated in 2000, many Bollywood personalities had attended the function. While talking to reporters outside the court, public prosecutor R V Kiny said that those who attended this function will be summoned by ACB to record their statements as witnesses.

Nayak has refuted the charge that he donated Rs one crore to this school, and submitted a list of donors in an earlier enquiry. Prosecution claims that some of these donors' names are fake.
