Curtains for Yeddyurappa-BJP relationship on Friday

The man who was instrumental in installing the first Bharatiya Janata Party government in South India will quit the party after a mammoth rally in Bangalore on Friday. Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will address his supporters at the Freedom Park in Bangalore at 10.30 am on Friday and then will lead a march to the Vidhan Soudha, following which he will resign as the member of the Karnataka legislative assembly.

Yeddyurappa, who is expecting a huge crowd, will march along with them to the Vidhan Soudha and hand over his resignation to the speaker of the house.

Following this, he will fax his letter of resignation to the BJP office announcing his resignation as the primary member of the party.

All eyes are on Yeddyurappa who has been saying for quite some time now that he will be quitting the BJP. Yeddyurappa will then move to Haveri in Karnataka where he will address yet another rally and announce the launch of his new party, the Karnataka Janatha Party.

Yeddyurappa would however be the only one quitting the party and the membership of the Karnataka legislative assembly on Friday. None of his followers are expected to join him as of now and they would wait until the term of the government is over next year.

Yeddyurappa had fallen out with his party ever since he was forced to step down following the Lokayukta report on illegal mining. Since then he has shown his power in the party and has changed two chief ministers.

He had first installed Sadananda Gowda as the CM, and after falling out with him, he made Jagadish Shettar the CM.

However, Yeddyurappa began to crib a couple of months later stating that he had been betrayed and should have been made the party president at least. He cried foul by stating that he was promised the post, but none of the BJP leaders lived up to their promises.

Since then every attempt to patch things up have failed and Yeddyurappa has remained adamant regarding his decision to quit the party.
