Crying over onions? There's chicken soup for Mumbai's souls

Last updated on: August 25, 2015 14:53 IST

Mumbaikars are weeping and it’s all thanks to the skyrocketing prices of onions.

The prices of onions at Lasangaon, Asia’s largest onion market, witnessed a record price of Rs 55 -- the highest in five years. As a result, retailers have started jacking up their rates to Rs 70-80 per kg.

At such a time, surprising as it may be, the price of chicken is cheaper than that of onions -- Rs 65/kg. The prices of chicken have fallen owing to the holy month of Shravan, during which many Hindus refrain from eating non-vegetarian.

So, we suggest ditch the onions and feast on chicken till the prices come down.

Sorry vegetarians our hearts and stomachs go out to you. :-)
